Dawn Gilbert, Department Chaplain
Thank you to the American Legion Auxiliary 5th district for hosting the Chaplain’s 101 for Michigan last month at the Armory in Belmont, Michigan. Great topics by some of the presenters on forgiveness and loneliness. If you have a chance to attend one of these in the future, consider it. It’s not just for Chaplains; the topics are something that we can all learn from.
As we enter the final month of the year, December brings with it a spirit of reflection, gratitude, and hope. It is a time when we gather with loved ones, honor traditions, and celebrate the blessings of faith, family, and freedom.
This season reminds us of the importance of service—both to our communities and to one another. As members of the American Legion Auxiliary, we are called to embody compassion and support for veterans, military families, and those in need. Let us take time this month to reach out with kindness, whether through a holiday card to a veteran, a warm meal for a neighbor, or a prayer for peace.
In the quiet moments of December, may we reflect on the year behind us with gratitude and look ahead with renewed purpose. Let us remember those who are no longer with us, honor their memory, and carry forward their legacy of service.
May your heart be filled with peace, your home with joy, and your spirit with hope as we celebrate this season together. Blessings to you and yours.
