Annual Unit Calendar 2024

American Legion Auxiliary – Department of Michigan – Annual Calendar

These items should be put on your Unit Calendar to be done every year.  The forms will be posted on the Department website, but it is up to the UNITS to see that this gets done annually.  Department should not have to track down delinquent Units.

March – Scholarships are due to Department by March 15th –  Unit year end reports are due to the District Chairmen by March 30th

April – District Reports are due to Department Chairmen by April 15th

May – Unit Data Forms are due to Department no later than May 1st – this tells how much your dues will be for the following year and who to send dues payments to at the Unit, even if there are NO changes; Department Chairmen must send their reports to Department and their National Chairman by May 1st

June – Unit Officer Lists are due to Department no later than June 1st, even if there are no changes

July – Membership renewals may be paid starting July 1styou do not need to wait for a renewal notice from National.  Renewal notices will be sent by email to all members with a good email address on file, usually by mid-July.  Newly elected officers and Honorary Life Members (HLM) should be paid to Department this month

June-July – Department Convention – scheduled at least 2 years in advance – Membership cut-off for Department awards/seating is 30 days prior to the start of Convention

August – National Convention – usually the last week in August – Membership cut-off for National awards/seating is 30 days prior to the start of Convention

September – New Membership apps/ rejoins accepted beginning September 1st – National mails renewal notices approximately September 15th – Fall Conference

October – IRS form 990 needs to be filed by October 1st –  keep sending in renewals

November – approximately the 1st or 2nd week of the month, ALA MIS renewal notices will be sent by Department; 10th of the month is the ALA Birthday!  Members are eligible for Early Bird stickers if paid by November 11th.

December – Department is generally closed the last 2 weeks of the year; 12/31 membership cards for the current year expire – be sure to have your new card when visiting a Post Lounge.

Remember – in order to get your new Membership cards, both your Unit Data Form and your Unit Officers List (2 separate forms) must be received by Department.

2025

January – membership cards for the new year must be used to verify current membership status
