Dawn Gilbert, Department Chaplain
As we turn the page to a new year, January is a time for reflection, renewal, and recommitment to our mission of serving veterans, military, and their families. The American Legion Auxiliary has always stood as a beacon of support and community, and my wish is that 2026 will be no different.
Hopefully, you were able to enjoy the holiday season surrounded by family and friends. I know many of our units bring the celebration of the holidays to their communities by holding parties or providing for the needs of those less fortunate. Thank you all for what you do. Your dedication throughout the past year has been inspiring, and I look forward to continuing our work together in the months ahead.
“Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” — John F. Kennedy
Just a reminder, I will be doing a book of prayers for President Dawn and to date have received only a few. Please ask your unit members to provide a prayer that they feel special about that they would like to share. I will gladly accept by mail or email. My email is dawngilbert21@aol.com.
I hope you plan to join us at our Winter Meeting in February. American Legion National Commander, Dan K. Wiley will be there. You don’t want to miss meeting him and enjoying all the fun. See you in Port Huron! It’s a great opportunity to connect, learn, and share ideas as we continue our mission.
