A Message from the National Membership Chair

WHOO!!! 7,868 members joined us this last week to support our mission!

5 Departments are in the 85% membership goal for the Merit Medallion:
Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Oklahoma, and Maryland!
Many Departments are on target to reach this goal.  This is not the time to slow down on Membership!

Everyone out there working membership is proving that we can reach our membership goal by America’s 250th Birthday on July 4th, 2026!
We have shared many tips/tricks, and tools to help you succeed in membership. Let’s dive a little deeper into the American Legion Auxiliary Members Information System (ALAMIS) for units.

Three levels of access are available:
VIEW – Just pull reports and read the information; no changes can be made.
Write – Everything with READ access, but you can make changes to membership profiles. Except mark someone deceased, because that’s just mean if not true, and transfers.
FULL – Everything with READ and WRITE, YOUR unit manages and pays membership dues!  This is easy to do, allows you to easily manage your membership, and not have the delay of snail mail and data entry errors.

If you are not utilizing ALAMIS, what are you waiting for?  Here is how to pull a dues not paid membership report to view who is not up to date on membership.

Sign into ALAMIS, click on unit, Uniti reports, 2026 Reports, click 2026 Unpaid Unit Dues Roster this report will show you who you need to check on!

Be sure to scroll all the way down for tips/tricks on reaching out to unpaid members.
Here are a few tips/tricks for calling members to renew:

  • Do not start the conversation with your late on your dues.
    • Start off with asking how they are doing.  Checking on them to ensure that they are ok.  We never know what is going on in someone’s life.
  • Tell them the upcoming events occurring in your unit:
    • Next meeting
    • Dinner
    • Are you holding a special renew/rejoin event
  • Tell them that you hope to see them soon
    • This is a great opening to telling them that you have their membership card, and when is a good time to stop by to drop it off, or when can they come pick it up.  This could be a great opportunity to remind them of the benefits of membership.
  • Be creative, positive, and LISTEN to them.  Share the great things your unit is working on, and how their membership helps our mission.  Especially if they state they just don’t have time!

Are you going to join the National Membership team in reaching our goal by America’s 250th Birthday?  My answer for you is absolutely, because together we make the positive change and impact for our Nation’s veterans, active military, and their families!
