Community Service – March 2026

Kim Frazier, Chairman

By the time you read this, the annual reports will be due. I hope everyone has kept track of their volunteer hours for our various programs. Please remember that you can use only the hours from one program, even if they qualify for more than one program. Choose the place where it fits, and if you are not sure, contact your district for advice on which program it best fits under. I am also available to answer questions if needed. My contact information is in your community service guide.

Here are some special dates of service to remember before convention:

  • National Volunteer Week is April 19-25
  • May is National Military Caregivers Month
  • May 8th is Military Spouse Appreciation Day
  • May 16th is Blue Star Salute Day

There are always ways to serve your community in everyday life. Volunteering for community events, helping your neighbors, cleaning headstones, or picking up trash from the neighborhood.

Please do not forget to apply for awards. Community service offers five awards for Units. Four of the five awards only need a narrative that doesn’t have to be long; tell us what the unit did this year. The fifth award also requires a narrative and a listing of the hours served for each event; without the listing of hours, it will be disqualified. We also encourage units to include pictures of events.
