2025-2026 Celebrating the Family
We are family, we’re all in this together. Now that I have your attention, I hope you realize this is our organization. The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and Riders are all there to honor and support our veterans.
I joined the ALA because a friend invited me to a meeting, and I thought it was something to do on a Wednesday. The women I met were friendly and inviting. As I sat there, I realized it wasn’t just a social club. The women spoke of VA gift shops, helping a legionnaire, and planning a Christmas party for the community children. I was in awe of the things this group did to help others.
I went home and realized this was the thing I was missing. The American Legion Auxiliary allows me the opportunity to honor my family’s veterans. The ALA allows me to do things I would have never been able to do, visiting this beautiful state or even the country I call home. Every time I visit Wilwin, I think of my dad, Don Stewart, and regret he never was able to visit such a beautiful place. I love helping visiting veterans and family members and explaining what our organization can do to help and support.
When the Legion family works together, we can do everything to honor and support our veterans. It doesn’t have to be a big thing; sometimes the littlest thing brings the biggest results.
When the members of your post work together and support each other, you can move mountains, all the negativity only hurts. As an ALA member, I remember it is an honor to be a member because of the service of my father and brother, I am allowed to join the Legion family. I hope that you also remember and are thankful for the service of the veteran who served so you can be a member of the family.
