906 Warriors

If you have not heard, 906 Warrior Relief is my special project. The 906 Warrior Relief Project started at the American Legion Post 349 Little Lake, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula 11 years ago, when a veteran walked into Post 349 and needed help. The Veteran did not have any heat or money to pay for propane to heat his home. He was not a member of the American Legion family. He was a Veteran.

The members of the post and unit of 349 rallied and gathered enough funds to fill this Veteran’s propane tank. Word traveled about what had happened, and the members of 349 discovered there was a need to help Veterans and their families in the area.

The Legion Family of 349 holds a golf outing every year to raise money to assist in the cost of helping our Veterans. Last year, they were able to help 15 Veterans and their families across the U.P. Think about how many more Veterans could be assisted if even more money was raised.

This is why I chose the 906 Warrior Relief Project for my special project. With the help of the amazing, talented ladies from the 10th District who made a quilt for me to raffle for my special project, we can raise more money for the 906 Warrior Relief. Raffle tickets are available at department headquarters. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. You can mail your check to the Department. Make it payable to the Department of Michigan American Legion Auxiliary on the memo line, put 906 Warrior Raffle. Your tickets will be mailed to you. The drawing will happen during our summer convention on Saturday, July 12, at 6:00 pm. Together, we can all make a difference in our veterans’ lives. Thank you all for your support!
