As May arrives, I find myself both grateful and reflective. This year has taken me across our beautiful state of Michigan, into so many of your communities, your meetings, and your hearts. Every mile traveled has reminded me just how special the American Legion Auxiliary truly is, not because of what we do, but because of who you are.
I’ve had the privilege of shaking your hands, hearing your stories, and witnessing your dedication firsthand. From small towns to larger communities, the love you have for our veterans, our military, and their families is unmistakable. It’s in the quiet moments—visiting a veteran, supporting a military child, or simply showing up—that our mission comes to life.
May, of course, brings us to one of the most sacred days we observe, Memorial Day. For me, this day is deeply personal. Like many of you, I carry the stories of those who served and sacrificed. As the daughter and sister of veterans, I understand pride, but also the weight of service. Memorial Day is not just a date on the calendar—it is a moment of pause, to remember, and to honor those who never made it home.
As my time as Department President begins to wind down, I’ve been thinking a lot about what this journey has meant to me. It was one of the greatest honors of my life. Not because of the title, but because of the people, each of you, who make this organization a family.
I am so proud of what we have accomplished together. Proud of the way you’ve stepped up, supported one another, and continued to carry forward our mission with strength and compassion. You inspire me more than you know.
As we move into these final months of the Auxiliary year, I encourage you to keep going. Keep reaching out. Keep inviting others to join us. Keep telling your story. Because what we do matters and the future of our organization depends on each of us continuing that work.
From the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your kindness, your dedication, and your unwavering support throughout this year. I will carry these memories with me always.
