Annual Unit Calendar 2026

American Legion Auxiliary – Department of Michigan – Annual Calendar

These items should be put on your Unit Calendar to be done every year.  The forms will be posted on the Department website, but it is up to the UNITS to see that this gets done annually.  The Department should not have to track down delinquent Units.

January – membership cards for the new year must be used to verify current membership status

January 9 – All ALA MIS renewal applications must be received; otherwise, users will be deactivated from the system.

March 31 –  Unit year-end reports are due to the District President. 

May 1 – Unit Dues Form/Remit due to the person for your Unit.

June – Unit Officer Lists are due to the Department no later than June 1st, even if there are no changes

July – Membership renewals may be paid starting July 1styou do not need to wait for a renewal notice from National.  Renewal notices will be sent by email to all members with a good email address on file, usually by mid-July.  Newly elected officers and Honorary Life Members (HLM) should be paid to the Department this month

June-July – Department Convention – scheduled at least 2 years in advance – Membership cut-off for Department awards/seating is 30 days prior to the start of Convention.  Unit membership packets will be available to the Unit representative.  The packet includes important forms and Unit membership cards. Remember – to get your new Membership cards, both your Unit Data Form and your Unit Officers List (2 separate forms) must be received by the Department.

August – National Convention – usually the last week in August – Membership cut-off for National awards/seating is 30 days prior to the start of Convention

September – New Membership apps/ rejoins accepted beginning September 1st – National mails renewal notices approximately September 15th – Fall Conference

October – IRS form 990 needs to be filed by October 1st –  keep sending in renewals

November 1 – The Department starts accepting renewal applications and payment for ALA MIS access for the upcoming year.

November – Members are eligible for Early Bird stickers if paid by November 11th.

December – The department is generally closed during the last two weeks of the year. On 12/31, membership cards for the current year expire. Please ensure you have your new card when visiting a Post Lounge.
